Don't Forget!

We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and less students are studying it than a decade ago.

That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 7-13). More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code.
See http://hourofcode.com/in for details, and help spread the word.

To read more about it watch this video and go to the free website. The students are already working with code and are very excited to be participating in this event. They can also be doing code at home!

Just go to Code.org to try it out!

Awesome Adjectives with Delicious Lolipops

We have been exploring adjectives in class the last couple of weeks. Adjectives can be very tricky for third graders. We will continue to work on it throughout the quarter.

This week we read the book Luscious Lollipops. It is my absolute favorite book to read for this skill.

A few years ago I found this page from second grade shenanigans. The kid had so a great time with their lollipops and finding adjectives.

Have a fantastic week!!!

What is a Scientist?

Every year I try and make a big deal about what a scientist is. Every year the misconceptions are the same. "A scientist is someone who wears science googles'', "A scientist is someone who wears a lab coat".  We always discuss ALL the different types of scientists and how each and finally come to the conclusion that we all can be scientists. We all can ask questions, make predictions, interpret data, and make conclusions. Who does not love experimenting?

You all ROCK! Our second Donors Choose project is only $219 off from getting funded and with the code JUMPSTART it would only be $110 and if you take the optional donation of 15% off it is only $93!!! We are sooooo close!!!! Our Hokki Stools have been shipped!!!! YAY!!!

Click the link if you would like to check out our projects!!! They keep extending the back to school code but we are not sure how long!

Have a wonderful week! Hope to see you tomorrow!
