First iPad project on Keynote

We started our first iPad project today and the kids are VERY excited to say the least.

I found this project from a teacher over at...soaringthroughsecond.blogspot.com.

They picked a partner that was not in their class last year. They interviewed their partner and discussed interesting facts for about twenty minutes. After they collected enough research for their project they checked out their iPad. Today on the iPad we learned how to search and save pictures on the web and take pictures with the camera on the iPad.

Tomorrow we will learn how to use Keynoteand develop our first presentation in third grade! On Friday we are going to learn how to use our Google accounts and save our Keynote presentations directly to Google drive!

We are loving getting to know everyone in our class! Their favorite greeting is the spiderweb! They greet other students by saying their name and throwing the web (yarn) over to them. After everyone has been greeted they let go and it pops up in the air.

Have a fabulous week! Check back for some fabulous Keynote presentations!

Stamina in Third Grade!

This week we have been discussing our stamina and how we need to practice our reading to be able to have the stamina to read 30-40 minutes at a time. We discuss how a runner can not just go out one day and run a marathon, they first have to practice and prepare for the marathon. This week we have dedicated to practice our stamina for Read to Self. I have learned that the stamina of a third grader is far stronger than a first grader! I have literally had students begging me to read during different parts of the day. This is a good thing, but it is quite different than what I am used to. I love that the students know their interests and the genres they want to read. We made it to 7 yesterday and 15 today. They were amazing and most of them could have continued to read for much longer.

I am loving getting to know all of the new faces and loving being with all that I have had before! We are having a lengthy morning meeting each morning this week to get to know one another and learn classroom expectations. This day we tossed a ball back and forth asking about one another and their favorites.

Have a great weekend!
