100th day of school!!!!

AHHHHH....Who is tired? That would be ME. The day was so much fun, but man oh man, these wonderful kiddies wore me out!

Here are some pics of the fun we had today.

This banner was waiting for them, when they arrived!

Our ingredients for our cowboy cookies.

We made up 100 equations that equaled 100! They did really amazing! Our math journals have really paid off!

Not sure why this is upside down, but these are the books we read.
Bethany reading us one of our stories! A few of the students wanted to read the stories.

My FAVORITE activity we did was this cutie! We made portraits of what we thought we would look like when we were 100.

What have we been doing???

Soooo, I know, I know it has been awhile. Every time I post, I think to myself how great it feels and you all must enjoy seeing your kiddo's. I promise myself each time that I will post EVERY week for now on.  Well....then a week passes and another.....and then a few weeks have passed. I am sorry, and I AGAIN pledge that I will post every week. =)

Since we have been back from break we have been very busy little firsties. Take a look in pictures of what we have been up to.

Tou Tou and his wonderful mom gave us a presentation on Chinese New Year! The kids LOVED it and learned a lot!

I have introduced our Reader's Workshop notebooks. They have mini composition books they will keep in their book boxes. They have been doing a wonderful job writing their, connections, mental images, and questions in them.

I have added new books on our I touch's! They are very excited.

In our classroom, our technology has been AMAZINGLY engaging for the students! I am very excited for the I Pad in our room, the kids are loving all of the apps and I am loving all of the wonderful learning aspects that we can do with it. =)

In Math we have been having a great time in our math workshop. Here is a picture of some girls working on patterns.!
We are getting ready to begin our math fact project. All of first grade will be taking 30 second timed tests on addition and subtraction. Above is a way we will keep track of them in the classroom. In the hallway as you enter the building from the ramp, each student will have a ice cream cone decorated. Each fact they pass they will get a scope of ice cream to put on their cone.
Here is a few of the new word work games that I have been putting together for the kiddo's. On the left is a couple of sight word games to play. On the right are a couple of word finders. They are so cool, you will have to stop by and see them. I colored some rice and laminated the words and put them in some old containers. I LOVE pinterest, so many wonderful ideas for education!

I will leave you with why I am so exhausted ALL the time. =) He took his first steps this past weekend. AND ooooooomyword he is all over the place. OH and his toys are EVERYWHERE. HEHEHE, I know it all worth it! Have a wonderful weekend!

Long Over Due....

I hope everyone is having a nice three day break...OH WAIT, you all get FIVE days (so jealous). Anyway, I have some very exciting news. Some of the students in our little classy class will be starting their own blog this week! I will add it to the right side of our blog so you can access it easily. I can not wait to talk to the kids about this. It is way cool! You can visit at http://kidblog.org/MrsRidgleysClass/. They are going to get to share what they know, have learned, and do some book comprehension activities on them. They are going to be soooooo excited!

Now that our second semester has come to an end you will be getting a report card this week! How CRAZY is that. We are half way done?!?!? It went so very fast. I guess it is because I am absolutely LOVING each and every child in our class this year! If you received your students data notebook last week, they are doing great and you do not need to worry about them. If you did not see their data notebook, one of two things happened. 1.) They brought it home and forgot to pull it out of their bag to show you. 2.) I would like to have a brief conference with you to discuss a few things.

Either way please send me an email or note and we can set up a time where you can see the notebook. =)

We are going to start some new fun things this semester, please make sure you are reading the STAR for news.

Talk to you soon!
